—Raiders
Any Raider fan knows that if you are at the Coliseum, you should be wearing the silver and black.
I frequently attend Raider home games and a couple weeks ago found a fan rooting for the opposing team. Steve Tirella was more than happy to share his thoughts about the upcoming game and rep is New York Jets.
Here is what he had to say.
—Interview During Occupy SF
Occupy San Francisco has become part of the national Occupy Wall Street movement going on along with other cities in the East Coast. Primarily, DC and New York.
It consists of peaceful protests and marches fighting against the fact that Wall Street was bailed out by our tax dollars, they fight to end the wars we are in, and I’m sure I’m missing much. I recently went to Occupy SF on Oct. 8, 2011, and live tweeted during the march to Dolores Park.
While at Dolores Park, I met a young gentleman and marcher and asked him a few questions.
—Wavorly Interview
Interview with the drummer of Wavorly.
This band recently had a significant line up change with them getting a new drummer. The big twist is that their current drummer, Teddy Boldt, packed up and left his home in Southern California within a week to move to Nashville.
I recently sat down with him to hear about his experiences on leaving him home and what life with Wavorly has been like.

Blink-182-Neighborhoods
After a hiatus which followed their 2003 self-titled album, Blink-182 finally has collected and harvested their talent in not starting another side project, but a new Blink record.
I think it’s safe to say that we all enjoyed Blink-182 in Jr High and can recite all of “Enema of the State.” So naturally, I’m curious what they can bring to the table.
When Blink-182 released “Up All Night” as the album’s first single, I was bummed. I hated the song and didn’t even both looking into the new album. A few days before the release, I listened to the single again and as much as I hate to admit it, it grew on me.
I dig that song and I dig this album. Tom’s whiny voice isn’t as present as it is the past but that’s tolerable. Mark and Tom also split the vocals up pretty evenly.
Some of it reminds me of Angels and Airwaves which I am not a fan of. Not a fan of +44 either. Stay out of the side projects and keep doing Blink.
If you’re looking for an album that is reminiscent to their previous albums, you’re looking in the wrong place. Bands grow up and Blink-182 is no exception. The songs that they have collaborated on this album peak a new level of maturity from their self-titled album and surprised the shit out of me and I’m amazed how much I really enjoy this album. Some tracks (Natives, After Midnight) I can live without.
However some other tracks, (Ghost on the Dance Floor, Wishing Well, This Is Home) I’m really stoked over. Incredibly catchy and they won’t leave your head.
I think it’s worth purchasing if you’re willing to accept their newer direction minus the occasionally, “Oh, it sounds like A&A.” I haven’t listened to anything else for the past couple of days and I like when an album does that.

This is such a milked question but I recently had to answer a form of this question as part of my Reporting homework. I liked how the question was phrased and I quite enjoy my answer. Hopefully you do too.
5. What does the success of social networking sites mean for the future of journalism?
I think it makes it easier. We have almost an unlimited amount of ways to get in contact with someone that it’s almost impossible to make a person unreachable.
While the newspaper may become obsolete, journalism is still going to be around.I personally don’t believe the newspaper will become too obsolete. To me, the newspaper is the vinyl and VHS of news. There is still a dedication selection of people out there with nostalgia for how things used to be that it will keep newspapers around. We have so much technology at our fingertips with HDTV and Blu-Ray, but I still wouldn’t trade in my VHS collection of the ORIGINAL (where Han shoots first) Star Wars Trilogy or Against Me!’s vinyl of White Crosses for Blu-Rays or CDs.
Social networking sites and online news has made publishing a story easier and getting the word out much quicker. Breaking stories can be posted on twitter as they are happening. You just have to know how do them properly.
While not everyone writing on those sites should be considered a journalist, it’s still a form of journalism. It’s still news. With everything going digital, the world has a higher demand for new stories and updates. The world gets bored quicker and it’s our job to keep them entertained. Our jobs just got more demanding.
We are overlooked and I feel taken for granted at certain times, but nonetheless they need us.

Fucked Up-David Comes To Life
This is my first entry of many that will be entitled “What’s In My Ear.” It sounds almost kinky but it’s just going to be me talking about what I’m currently listening to.
I recently bought this album because it was highly recommended by an Amoeba staff worker and it was called the most epic punk album of all time. Does it live up to the hype?
First of all, this is a concept album and if you know me, I’m a sucker for concept albums. From Green Day’s American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown to Showbread’s Anorexia Nervosa. I love music that has a story to it.
This album’s lyric book does not contain lyrics to the songs but a story that goes along with the songs. I haven’t read the whole story and concept yet but from what I’m seeing it’s a bit weak. It’s a love story between two people by the names of David and Veronica. I haven’t read the lyrics to the music yet so my opinion may change.
Now on to the music. The main vocalist’s doesn’t have much of a range so don’t look for anything clean. Not saying that’s bad because I personally like it. However, there is a girl in the band and she adds dynamic features.
What I really love about this band is the guitars. If this cd was instrumental, I would be ok with that. The guitar riffs are so catchy that I sometimes just zone out the main vocalist. So the word epic does describe how this album feels.
My biggest complaint is the lack of background vocals and chants. I love all that type of stuff when it comes to punk music. It makes a song extra catchy for me personally.
All in all, I’m glad I purchased this album and I’ll probably be listening to it all week.
